Girls Tennis
Girls Tennis ended the fall season undefeated, winning the Prep League title for the first time since 2017. They made quarterfinals in CIF-SS Division 2 Playoffs, beating out Laguna Beach and Aliso Niguel before falling to Calabasas.
“It’s like a mini family,” Avery Chan-Mott ’29 said. Chan-Mott finished as the Prep League Singles champion in her first year of playing for the Chadwick team.
“You end up spending a lot of time with these girls and really get to know them with team dinners and all that stuff. I feel like I’ll have these strong friendships throughout the rest of the year, and next year we’ll meet again.”
While the season has ended for the team, Chan-Mott is qualified for the singles tournament, and Hannah Choi ’26, Sophia Kaviani ’28, Kaylin Anastasi ’27 and Sophie Lin ’27 are qualified for the doubles tournaments. They’ll start playing on November 24th.
Girls Golf
Girls Golf continued their dominance, going undefeated in the Prep League to win their second consecutive League title. They also made a deep run in CIF, ending as the runner-up in CIF-SS Division 3 Team Championships.
Rowena Lee ’26, a valuable varsity player and the team’s only senior, is proud of how far the team has come and appreciates the relationships the team has built.
“There were a lot of team bonding activities that helped us get along with each other better,” she said. “We strive to do our best and make the most of every match.”
Girls Volleyball
Girls Volleyball made a deep run in the CIF Division 5 Southern Section Tournament, ending as the runner-up team in the bracket. Their appearance in the CIF championship match was Chadwick’s first in 14 years and qualified the team to play in the Division 3 State Regionals Tournament.
“I think we’ve really been able to connect,” says senior captain and libero Olivia Simms ’26. “Since there’s eight seniors on the team, we’ve really been able to bond not only off the court, but on the court as well. And that’s allowed us to become more fluid as players.”
In Regionals, they defeated Eagle Rock HS before falling to Frontier HS, ending a prolonged season that started in mid-August and spanned 43 games.
Cross Country
In Cross Country, the girls team won the Prep League for the second consecutive year, while the boys placed second. The girls went on to qualify for CIF Finals for the 30th consecutive year, a historic milestone that would not be possible without the tight-knit within the team.
“Everyone’s just so supportive, and it’s so positive,” Co-Captain Maegan Tatman ’27 said of her teammates.
“Even when I have a bad race I can always just talk to people, and they cheer me up. I’ve made a lot of friends both at and outside of practice, which is really nice.”
Tatman and her teammates will race again at Mt. San Antonio College this Saturday, where they hope to qualify for the CIF State meet for the second consecutive year.
Football
Football earned a bye week in CIF Division 1 Southern Section Playoffs. Their first playoff game against Sage Hill ended 58-49 in a shootout victory that saw Prep League offensive MVP Ben Wandrick ’26 rush for 205 yards and three touchdowns.
“The defense came up when we needed them to,” Wandrick said. “Offense was rolling on all cylinders. We never really got stopped.”
This Friday, the team travels to Flintridge Prep in the semi-final matchup. They lost to the Wolves earlier this season and are looking for revenge.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back at Flintridge,” Wandrick said. “Now that I’m getting that opportunity, I have to capitalize on it. We have to capitalize on it as a team.”
Water Polo
With the departure of star Owen Foldesy ’25, Water Polo largely handed the reins to Luke Ghammachi ’26, Julie Sweeney ’26 and Winston Lin ’26. The team had a large core of freshmen this year, and Lin is confident that they’ll develop into a strong, robust unit.
“I am actually really excited for the future of the team because our JV won pretty much every single game,” Lin said. “They already have the team synergy, so I think if they continue to work hard, they can get far into CIF in the next two, three years.”
